Outgoing webhooks
When a result document is accepted or a note changes, Kartoteq sends a signed request to a URL you choose, so your tracker or chat can react.
Dmytro is a product manager. When the team accepts a brief in Kartoteq, he opens the tracker and creates three tasks by hand, then pastes a link into the team chat. He does this four or five times a week and forgets about once a week, which is when somebody asks “is the brief final yet?”
A decision in a notebook is often the start of work somewhere else. Today that handover is a person copying and pasting. A webhook lets the notebook speak first: this happened, here is the link, do what you need.
The notebook that tells the tracker
Dmytro will pick the events he cares about, say “result document accepted” and “new branch created”, and give Kartoteq a URL. Each event will arrive as a signed request so his server can check it came from us; he will see whether every delivery succeeded, and Kartoteq will retry when his server was down. The REST API that already exists stays for questions; webhooks are for announcements.
This is ahead because the most useful events exist only once the AI notebook is finished. Before release we have to make sure a webhook never carries the text of a note the receiving system is not allowed to open.

What is in scope
This is ahead because the most useful events, an accepted result or a new branch, exist only once the AI notebook is finished. You will choose which events to subscribe to, see whether each delivery succeeded and let Kartoteq retry when your server was down; every request will be signed so the receiver can check it came from us. Webhooks are not the REST API that already exists: the API answers questions, a webhook speaks first, and before release we have to make sure it never carries text from a note the subscriber is not allowed to open.
Where it stands
This direction is in the plan but not in development yet. We will write here when work starts and when there is something to try. Until then there is no date, and we would rather say so than guess.
If this direction matters to you, tell us about the task behind it. A concrete situation changes what we build more than a vote for a feature does.
