You know what a question costs before you ask it.
Points pay for AI work: the interview, summaries across the notebook’s sources, comparing branches, proposed edits to the result. Storing files, writing notes and linking them yourself costs nothing. So does browsing the Second brain graph.
Why a request has no fixed price
A short question to one note and a comparison of two branches with forty sources are different amounts of work. The charge depends on the model, on how much material is read and on the kind of operation. Before an expensive one you see an estimate and confirm it. When the limit is reached, AI stops; your notes stay where they are.
Questions we get asked
Can I use Kartoteq without AI at all?
Yes. Personal has no AI points, and in paid plans a notebook can be kept in collection mode. Notes, files, search and sharing work the same way; nothing is charged for them.
What happens when the points run out?
AI operations pause until the next month or until you top up, once top-ups are available. Everything else keeps working. You will see the balance before each request, so this should not come as a surprise.
Does the team budget mean everyone can spend everything?
No. The team pool has a limit per person and a record of who spent what. Who can change the limits is decided by the person who manages the workspace.
Can I move my notes out later?
Yes, at any time: HTML, Markdown, PDF or a ZIP of the whole account. Check the import and export page for details.
